Pastor Eric K. Benson came to Gainesville Florida in 1960. He was born again
and called to the Gospel ministry in 1967. Soon after graduating from the
University of Florida, he surrendered to the ministerial call and went on
to earn a Master of Divinity degree at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is happily married and has two sons. He has taught a wide range of ages
and subjects in public and Christian schools, and is a retired Air Force
Reserve Chaplain with Southern Baptist Convention endorsement.
Pastor Benson served churches in evangelism, discipleship, youth, and
college ministry positions prior to being called to serve as the Monteocha
Baptist Mission and Church pastor. He came to Monteocha Baptist at the
age of 27 and has ministered to our congregation for over twenty years.
Theologically conservative, he exalts Jesus Christ by a systematic and
passionate communication of the Gospel of God's Grace.
Brother Eric provides oversight to our Monteocha Institute for Student
Leadership which teaches and trains college students interested in serving
as church or denominational leaders. Pastor Benson is Coordinator of the
Sovereign Grace Founders Fraternal, a fellowship of Baptist ministers
of kindred-spirit and like-mind in Northeast Florida.
